...Federico has finished filming
“El Cantante” starring Marc Anthony and Jennifer Lopez. With
locations in New York and Puerto Rico, “El Cantante” takes place in the
1970’s highlighting the life story of Hector Lavoe. With
Hector Lavoe’s passion for Latin music combined with the business genius of his record
producer and friend Jerry Masucci (played by Federico), “salsa”
music became a movement in the United States. Directed by Leon Ichaso, “El
Cantante” will begin post-production in March of 2006.
“A Guide to Recognizing Your Saints” opened January 2006 at the Sundance
Film Festival. Winning two awards -for best dramatic directing for Dito Montiel
and best ensemble in a dramatic film -- starring Robert Downey Jr., Chazz
Palminteri, Rosario Dawson and Shia La Boeuf, the movie is a coming-of-age drama
about a boy growing up in Astoria, N.Y., during the 1980s. As his friends end up
dead, on drugs or in prison, he comes to believe he has been saved from their
fate by various so-called saints. Federico portrays the character of “Antonio’s
Father” -- release date for general distribution to theatres will be announced.
Other recent film projects include “Aftermath”. Written and directed by
Thomas Farone “Aftermath” is a crime-thriller with an intriguing array of
characters embroiled in misunderstandings. Federico
portrays the dark character of “Darrell”. The film stars Anthony Michael Hall,
Tony Danza and sadly, due to his untimely death, “Aftermath” will be the
final film appearance for the acting talent of -Chris Penn. This film is due to
be released later this year.
